That's not a good idea. For example, I actually really like the Carbon theme--but strongly dislike the branding on the spacebar. What am I supposed to do? I don't want the branding, but I want the theme...
While this isn't the correct topic to post this under--I feel like you guys are going about themes all wrong.
Instead of making some themes display the alt characters and some themes not display the alt characters--you should ideally make it modular: make the themes separate from the ability to show alt characters. If the user was allowed to make that choice, it would be less themes for you guys to maintain--and more choice for us.
Back to the branding--I don't know why anyone would *want* branding on the keyboard. I may be the minority, but I strongly feel like you guys will receive backlash for implementing this change. I assure you when this iteration gets out of beta and into production--the moment it gets to reddit--Swiftkey is going to be bashed hard for doing this. While you guys may not care, this does nothing but makes the keyboard look worse. It's jarring and unnecessary. I liked having the Swiftkey logo on the "123" button.
Google Keyboard looks better than any of the SwiftKey themes.
Fleksy is all around aesthetically pleasing.
Skype even looks better.
These keyboards all look nicer. This is something I feel that SwiftKey has struggled with. You guys make lots of themes, but never fully flesh it out. For example, your dark material theme looks great--except for the borders surrounding each letter. I liked the Minimal Material dark theme, but then I don't get the alternate characters at a glance.
These other keyboards consistently look better. By placing an unnecessary logo on the keyboard, you're only making it look worse.
I have been a user of SwiftKey ever since it came to Android. In recent months, I can't say I'm a happy user anymore.
I think it should be removed. Period. No other keyboard has branding like this visible. It looks bad. This is actually something I'd consider switching away from Swiftkey over. I paid for this keyboard when it was still a paid app. I shouldn't have to see "Swiftkey" every time I open the keyboard.
